Valentine's Day, A Hiring Event and the Music of John Williams?! - This Week's Events in Columbus
February 12, 2026 Edition

Valentine’s Day is Saturday! If you’re in a relationship and this has slipped your mind, you’re welcome. This week we have a handful of events for Valentine’s Day; some are very on-theme and others are good for a change of pace. We also have a hiring event and with the state of the job market, I try to share those whenever I come across them. In other news, football season is officially over and it feels like we’re already deep into baseball. Are there any other parents out there spending all their time at the baseball fields right now? No? Just me?
Forget about sports, let’s get to the good stuff!

The Columbus Symphony Orchestra will bring to life the music of John Williams from the films of Steven Spielberg. This is one of those events that probably doesn’t apply to a lot of you, but for those it does apply to, it’s very important and I wanted to make sure it has visibility. SpartanNash is hosting a big hiring event for their Columbus Distribution Center. They’re promising competitive pay of $20/hour + incentives, benefits in 30 days or less and 4-day work weeks. 5. The Orchestra Games: An Olympic Musical Adventure for Kids

No, it’s not a mistake. This event is on the same day at the same location as the John Williams music, but it’s earlier in the day. Cheer on your favorite section of the orchestra in The Orchestra Games: An Olympic Musical Adventure for Kids! This high-energy, family-friendly concert turns the symphony into a playful Olympic arena, where strings, brass, and woodwinds compete in musical challenges to win the gold. With the help of a narrator, kids will learn how the orchestra works all while clapping, laughing, and rooting for their musical champions.
