Special Edition - Best Pumpkin Patches in the Area

This is the first ever special edition of the newsletter. This is not the normal events roundup, that will still come out on Thursday. With the Halloween season in full swing, I thought it was time for a special edition that highlights the area Pumpkin Patches. If you enjoy this edition, let me know and I can plan similar releases during the Christmas season. Note that most of these pumpkin patches aren’t technically within Columbus, but there are all within easy driving distance and I think the ones I’ve listed are worth the trip!
With that said, let’s talk pumpkins!

As a special thanks to the readers of this newsletter and to continue celebrating the opening of their new location, B Merrell’s is giving readers of this newsletter free Chips & Salsa with the purchase of an appetizer. This is valid all October and November, so stop by and give them a shot. You can grab the coupon as the link below. Simply show it to your waiter and enjoy a free app on the house!
Choctafaula Pumpkin Patch

As a family with a couple of younger kids, this is our favorite pumpkin patch in the area. It’s got all the normal fall festivities with food, games, large bounce houses, pumpkins of course and lots of fall photo-ops, but this one stands out for a few reasons. For starters, there is a very large petting zoo and Safari Wagon Tour. You can hand-feed giraffes, ride horses, see camels, emus, and tons of other animals. Beyond this, they also have a beautiful courtyard with a full menu of food and a full, indoor bar. I don’t mean that they have a small cooler in the corner, this is a legitimate bar. This is the largest patch in the area and the one with the most stuff to do. If you can’t find something you enjoy here, pumpkin patches just aren’t your thing.
Dates: Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays
Admission: $15 general admission - additional charge for some activities

The Farm at Rocky Top Pumpkin Patch

Choctafaula and Rocky Top are basically 1a and 1b. Rocky Top also has hay rides, inflatables, a petting zoo (though smaller than Choctafaula), games and activities, plus a full indoor food spot with a bar. Rocky Top probably has a few more games and is a little more spread out than Choctafaula as well. The main hayride at Rocky Top takes you through the woods and has various scarecrows and funny scenes setup, whereas the hayride at Choctafaula is essentially a wild animal safari. Both are great, they’re just different.
Dates: Saturdays and Sundays
Admission: $12.50 general admission

Oakhurst Fall Daze

Just up the road in West Point, this is one my family has been to every year for the last 6 years. We were just here Saturday actually, and you can see the reel of all the activities here! Originally, this wasn’t the largest pumpkin patch in the area but they’ve done a lot of work and added new stuff to it every year and its now right up there with the others. Like with our first two options, expect lots of games, a petting zoo with baby animals, some jumping/inflatable options and hayrides. This one also features a very large corn maze that you can definitely get lost in and a massive new slide! Seriously, you need to see this thing. Watch here.
Dates: Saturdays and Sundays
Admission: $12 general admission - Mega Slide is additional

Pumpkins at Callaway

This isn’t a traditional pumpkin patch, it’s more of a resort with a pumpkin-theme. If you’ve visited Fantasy-in-Lights recently, imagine everything around the Robin Lake Beach area swapped from Christmas lights to pumpkins. Your ticket gets you access to all the great things Callaway has to offer (like the Butterfly Center, Birds of Prey Show, mini golf, and hiking trails) plus corn mazes, pumpkin decor and a really cool “glow-by-night” theme where everything turns neon. They’ve got a fully illuminated trail that is just as well done as Fantasy-in-Lights, just decorated for fall.
Dates: Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays
Admission: $25 general adult admission, $20 for children. *Note that this gets you full access to Callaway Gardens, even the non-pumpkin themed activities

Napier’s Pumpkin Patch

You may have driven past this one as it’s right on the corner of Double Churches and Whitesville. This one is really more of a farmer’s market turned pumpkin patch for the season, but it’s in Columbus and there’s no entry fee, so it’s worth checking out. They’ve got pumpkins, produce, photo ops, a bounce house and more. Plus, if the weather cooperates you can usually grab a snack from the Icee truck and others that setup shop in the area.
Dates: Every day
More Info: Napier’s
