Midnight Run, Comic Books and Bullies - This Week's Events in Columbus

August 21, 2025 Edition

This week features one of the most diverse groups of events you’ll see! I could have easily added a dozen or more events to this week’s list, but I try to keep this quick and easy to read so I had to make some tough cuts. If you missed the news, there’s a big time MLB star coming to the Clingstones on Saturday night, the details of which are in the sports section below. On another note, I’ve been peaking ahead to what events are coming next and September already looks jam-packed with big and exciting stuff. It’s going to be a fun end to the year!

I’m rambling now, so let’s get to the good stuff.

Sponsored by Set Fee Realty

Events

1 🎶 Country's Midnight Express

It’s Midnight Express time! If you’re a local, this event needs no introduction. If you’re new around here, this is a running event that’s really more like a wholesome party. It’s called the Midnight Express because, you guessed it, it starts at midnight. I’ve been to a ton of these and never once have I actually been a runner, so don’t let that stop you either! Attending is free, but if you want to run you need to register at the link below

  • Location: Country’s Barbecue (Mercury Drive location)

  • Date: Saturday, August 23

  • Time: Fun starts around 9:00 PM, race starts at 11:59 PM

3 🤠 Brims, Buckles & Boots

If a night of honky-tonk sounds like heaven to you, I have good news. Grab your favorite cowboy duds and come experience Brims, Buckles & Boots at The Loft! Kris Youmans Band will be serving up old-school country, there will be a cowboy/cowgirl costume contest (with prizes) and there will of course be line dancing. Tickets are required for entry and are a little cheaper if you get them in advance.

4 🌅 Sunset Soiree Market

If the above events are too late for you (midnight) or too outgoing (cowboy costumes), here’s something that may be more your speed. Do a little shopping and a little eating at the Sunset Soiree Market. River Oaks Boutique will make sure there’s shopping, and Street Food Saturdays will be there to give you food options. Come enjoy golden hour in style!

In case the lingo was a little confusing, this is a dog show featuring bulldogs of all types, plus some other breeds. This is not just some exhibition, there will be 4 sanctioned ABKC shows. Tickets for both attendees (12 and under get in free) and competitors along with additional details are in the link below.

6 🎼 Columbus Community Orchestra: The Music of Mozart

A rare 6th event! I didn’t want this one to get missed down in the music section, so I added it here. The Columbus Community Orchestra will be doing a free concert featuring the music of Mozart!
