Jazz, SEC Football and a Job Fair - This Week's Events in Columbus

September 25, 2025 Edition

I’m writing this week’s post from the road in Guatemala, so hopefully I don’t miss anything critical! This is the first week since I started this newsletter where I felt like I couldn’t reasonably show every big event in a singular newsletter. My goal with this has always been that its short and easily digestible, but there are some really cool events this week that were cut to keep this to a manageable size. I’ll try my best to post those on our social media accounts, so make sure you’re following on Instagram or Facebook! That said, what are your thoughts about this newsletter posting twice a week rather than just once? Let me know in this 1-question poll!

Should the newsletter move to twice per week publishing to cover more events?

With that out of the way, let’s get to the good stuff!

Events

1.🎷 Jazz on the River 2025

Let’s kick things off with a FREE event right along the river at Woodruff Park. Jazz on the River will feature live music and artists bringing you the best R&B and throwbacks. 2.🏈 SEC Tailgate & Watch Party

There’s a very big game in the college football world this weekend, and no I’m not talking about Penn State vs Oregon! Yes, it’s time for another edition of Bama-UGA, this time in Athens. If you’re looking for somewhere to watch this other than your couch, Stirrup Trouble and the Peach Shoppe have you covered. They’re hosting a watch party and will have the game playing on a projector. You can get food from local food trucks, participate in the cornhole tournament, and of course grab a drink from Stirrup Trouble or shoppe at the Peach Shoppe. Rivalry is what makes college football great, so get out there and watch with some other folks!

While virtually all of the events I share here are for fun and many go towards good causes, I wanted to include this one as it could be very important for people on the hunt for their next job. This event, hosted by WTVM at the Cunningham Center, will connect job seekers with a wide range of employers from industries like healthcare, education, skilled trades, customer service and more. Be ready for on-the-spot interviews and dress to make a good impression!
