Christmas in July, Triathlons and a New Minor League Team (sort of) - This Week's Events in Columbus

July 10, 2025 Edition

If you’re feeling worn out by all this heat, Christmas in July is coming to cool you off! So many of this week’s events happen downtown on Saturday, so go ahead and mark that day on your calendar and be ready to spend on Broadway and surrounding areas. Speaking of downtown, can I still call it that or is it strictly uptown? I’m going to assume that either works so I’ll go with the flow week to week. Whether it’s downtown or uptown, that area is hosting a pretty interesting promotion on Saturday with the Clingstones that involves something called the Malmo Oat Milkers. I read about it and I’m still not 100% sure what to expect, but it’s going to be fun for sure.

Enough of the preamble, let’s get to the good stuff!

This week we have our first repeat sponsor in Yooper Lube! I got a chance to spend some time with these folks this week and let me tell you, they’re great people. They’re easy to talk to, down to earth and just looking to provide great service for anybody they come across.

This location is directly across from Ruth Ann’s on Veteran’s, and you may have passed it before and never noticed. Whether you work downtown, are stopping in for a bite, grabbing a cup of coffee or even dropping the kids off at daycare, if you find yourself in the area, swing by for an oil change or fluid check. They can get you in and out in under 30 minutes, they’ll get the job done right, and, most importantly, they won’t pressure you into upsells that you don’t need.

Give them a shot and tell them I sent you. As a special thanks to all our readers, mention you saw them here and you’ll get $10 off!

If you’re a local business owner and would like to see your business featured here as a sponsor, just reply to this email for more information.

Events

1. 🎄 Christmas Market in July

Uptown transforms for a fun summer twist on Christmas! Festive décor, holiday-inspired vendors, and even a Hawaiian-shirt-wearing Santa. There will be a special Letter-to-Santa drop-off station for the kids and of course all the great food and shopping that market days has to offer!

  • Location: Broadway Market Days (1000–1200 blocks)

  • Date: Saturday, July 12

2. 🏊‍♂️ Chattahoochee Challenge Sprint Triathlon

Swim, bike, and run (or join the Floatie Division for a more relaxed version if that’s your speed)! I’ve been to a few of these in the past and I can tell you that even if you aren’t participating, it’s a fun event to be around for. The energy and excitement go way beyond the participants and the crowd gets really into it. If you’re reading this, had no idea this sprint triathlon was coming and are considering a last minute entry, I have good news! Registration is still open!

3. 🚚 Taste of Summer Food Truck Festival

Get ready for the Taste of Summer Food Truck Festival, proudly hosted by River Oaks and Street Food Saturdays. There will be a packed lineup of food trucks, beverages, a DJ and plenty of handpicked market vendors. Saturday downtown has a TON going on this week, and while a lot of that is in the morning, this one will kick off the evening.

  • Time: 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM

4. 🥂 MooMoos & Mimosas Brunch

I didn’t want to have everything as a downtown Saturday event, so here’s something a little different. Rock your favorite moomoo to Hudson’s for a relaxed, bubbly brunch featuring bottomless mimosas and cozy vibes. The food is always great at Hudson’s, and now the comfort level will match! This is happening both Saturday and Sunday, so if you are downtown all day Saturday you can still catch this one the next day.

  • Location: Hudson’s at Main Street (6298 Veterans Pkwy Suite 7A)

  • Dates: Saturday & Sunday, July 12–13

  • Time: 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM

5. 🧚 Enchanted Fairy Fest

This event kicks off opening day for the Enchanted Garden summer series at the Columbus Botanical Garden. The Enchanted Garden exhibit runs through September 2nd, but the Fairy Fest is a one-day only event. Dress in your most enchanted attire and bring the family to experience bubble stations, fairy crowns, wants and pirate swords, building a gnome home, face painting, a water play area and more.
