Car Show, Back-to-School Events Galore and a Giant Yard Sale - This Week's Events in Columbus
July 31, 2025 Edition

It’s the last week of Summer! That’s not really true, Summer isn’t even halfway done on the calendar of course, but for those whose lives revolve around school, this is the last weekend before that gets up and running again. Columbus is definitely in on that as this week is loaded with Back-to-School events, from small donation events to big parties. For those who overdo it on outdoor events, I included one towards the bottom this week that’s sure to keep you ice cold.
Bad jokes aside, let’s get to the good stuff!

Events
1. 🚗 Back to School Car Show

Broadway is the place to be this Saturday morning. In addition to the vendors and excitement of market days, there will be a full-on car show, a Kid Zone with inflatables, a 50/50 raffle, a live DJ and a drop-off spot for school supplies. Get ready to see amazing cars on display and enjoy a back-to-school celebration like no other. The event is free to enter, $25 if you have a car you want to display.
Location: Broadway
Date: Saturday, August 2
Time: 9:00 AM–12:00 PM
More Info: Back to School Car Show
2. 🛍️ Midland Commons Back to School Bash

I’m loving all the things going on at Midland Commons lately. It’s nice to have another lively community spot other than downtown. If you haven’t been over that way, it’s time to check them out! Street Food Saturdays is excited to announce its first Back to School Bash, taking place at Midland Commons on August 2nd from 4-7pm, promising an action-packed afternoon of fun, food, and entertainment for all ages. They will also be collecting school supplies to donate to a local school in our area.
Location: Midland Commons
Date: Saturday, August 2
Time: 4:00 PM–7:00 PM
More Info: Midland Commons Back to School Bash
3. 💸 Gigantic Yard Sale

This is different from the events I usually post, but I like to mix it up and I know a lot of you like thrifting and browsing those sales! This is actually a two-day yard sale with food included in the admission price. If you’re concerned the crowd may be too much or that the good stuff will be gone before you get in, there is another yard sale this weekend as well over at The Church of Columbus (details in the link).
Location: 2308 Hilton Ave (Hilton Ave Community Church)
Date:
Friday, August 1 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM
Saturday August 2 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
More Info: Gigantic Yard Sale
4. 🎶 First Saturday Concert Series at Highside Market

The First Saturday Concert Series is back at Highside after they skipped July. This Saturday, see James Koan III and soak up that last weekend of Summer before the kids head back to school!
Location: Highside Market
Date: Saturday, August 2
Time: 5:00 PM–8:00 PM
More Info: Highside Market Events
5. 🥂 Love Island Brunch

You may have missed it, but Hudson’s has an ongoing series of themed brunches and this week the theme is Love Island! Come in costume (or not) and dive into all that tropical drama. Not to give too much away here, but over the next 2 months a quick glance at their themes includes Star Wars, Harry Potter, Grits & Grannies, Disney Villains and a ton more. After that, they get into some really fun seasonal themes that get even better. This series will definitely be reappearing on the list.
Location: Hudson’s
Date: Saturday, August 2 & Sunday August 3
Time: 10:00 AM–3:00 PM
More Info: Love Island Brunch
6. ⛸️ Public Ice Skating

Ok, technically this event goes on throughout the year and is not specific to this weekend, but I’m listing it for two reasons. First, I don’t think everybody knows this is a thing. You can ice skate throughout much of the year here, you just need to check the event calendar. Second, and maybe most important, IT IS HOT outside! Being indoors in air conditioning, skating around on ice sounds like a dream at the moment!
Location: Columbus Ice Rink (400 4th St)
Dates: Check dates, but standard times are:
Thursdays - 6:15 PM-8:15 PM
Fridays - 5:00 PM-9:00 PM
Saturdays - 5:00 PM-9:00 PM
Sundays - 5:00 PM-9:00 PM
More Info: Public Ice Skating
