Balloons, Line Dancing and Labor Day - This Week's Events in Columbus
August 28, 2025 Edition

Labor Day has arrived! Man, as a parent, that stretch between Independence Day and Labor Day can be a tough one. I don’t know about you, but I am READY for this three-day weekend and this mild weather is absolutely perfect for getting out and enjoying the time off. I can’t remember the last time we had such cool weather this late into August! If you missed the news last week, it was a bit of a bummer for the Clingstones as Chris Sale’s rehab start was cancelled (he went to another affiliate instead). Hopefully, those who bought tickets still had a great time. I’d also like to give a quick shoutout and thank you to Set Fee Realty for sponsoring all of August’s newsletters.
Ok, enough of the intro, let’s get into the good stuff!

Events
1. 🎈 Balloons and Labor Day Weekend at Callaway Gardens

I’ve said it before and will continue repeating it, but Callaway Gardens doesn’t get enough love around here. This weekend offers another chance for you to see it with fresh eyes. Go experience everything they have to offer for Labor Day. There’s a hot air balloon festival which allows rides throughout the day and turns into an incredible balloon/light show at night, followed by a fantastic fireworks show. This is in addition to all the great food, drinks and fun of Robin Lake Beach plus live music!
Location: Callaway Gardens
Date: Friday–Sunday, August 29–31
Time: All weekend long!
More info: Labor Day Weekend
2. 🧘♀️ Yoga in the Garden

This is one of those ongoing events that I’ve wanted to include previously and it just hasn’t quite made the cut. Well, this is the week! This is a 60-minute, all levels yoga class taught by a true yogi expert. It’s held in the farmhouse while it’s still warm out, then moves to the lawn starting in October. It’s a great way to loosen up and get the blood flowing to start your Friday!
Location: Columbus Botanical Gardens
Date: Friday, August 29
Time: 9:30 AM
More info: Yoga in the Garden
3. 👩🏫 Girls Inc SSB Celebration Dinner

This is the 11th Annual Strong, Smart and Bold Celebration Dinner. This is the biggest fundraiser of the year for Girls Inc of Columbus and Phenix-Russell. It’s an inspiring evening where participants of Girls Inc share the life-changing opportunities they’ve had. Make sure to come dressed in red to support the girls!
Location: Iron Works Convention & Trade Center
Date: Thursday, August 28
Time: 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM
More info: Girls Inc
4. 💃 Line Dancing Lessons at the Civic Center

Denim and Diamonds is coming up in October, and this offers you a chance to brush up on your line dancing before the big event! This is a beginner-friendly class, so don’t let a lack of experience keep you from giving it a shot.
Location: Columbus Civic Center
Date: Saturday, August 30
Time: Noon
More info: Line Dancing Lessons
5. 🌇 Outdoor Thursdays Downtown

This is another event that I’ve wanted to call out and just haven’t been able to squeeze in. This FREE event is hosted by Bailamo and happens right in the middle of all the downtown action on the stage in front of Agave and Pineapple Jacks. Come try Latin dancing on your way to (or from) one of the delicious dinner spots downtown, just remember to bring comfortable shoes!
Location: Broadway, in front of Agave and Pineapple Jacks
Date: Thursday, August 28
Time: 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM
