A Father/Daughter Dance, Thrifting and Swan Lake?! - This Week's Events in Columbus
February 19, 2026 Edition

Go Team USA! Does anybody else get really sucked into niche sports when the Olympics are on? For 2 weeks every 4 years I’m a massive fan of curling! Do you think the Civic Center could put a curling sheet (I had to Google what they call the playing surface) out for a weekend event if we all asked nicely? I’m sure I’d hurt myself, but it looks like a lot of fun. Anyway, this week features a nice collection of events, starting things off with a celebration of Black History Month. There are also several family-friendly events that are perfect to check out as one big crew. I should also mention a very famous ballet you may have heard of is stopping by the River Center.
I promise no more curling talk, let’s get to the good stuff!

This is a ballet that needs no introduction. Timeless choreography, majestic performances and an iconic score from Tchaikovsky. This is a fun tradition from the folks at the Russell County Child Advocacy Center. 4. 2026 Arbor Day: Celebration of Trees

Here’s a nice, FREE, family-friendly event. Join KCBC for their 2026 Arbor Day Celebration, in partnership with Columbus Public Works and Trees Columbus. They’ll be honoring the importance of environmental stewardship with tree planting, seedling giveaways, games, food, prizes, face painting and more. Did I mention there will be FREE food and beverages? It’s looking like a nice warm weekend if the rain can hold off, so this is a good thing to keep your eye on.

Let me preface this one by saying that it’s on base. Let me also say that if you’re interested, register now because that closes on Friday.

From there, they’ll hit up Twice Blessed Thrift in Columbus before heading to Opelika to explore Harvest Thrift Store.
